Managing Partner

Brian Jarmain is a Principal of Valorem, having joined the firm in 2023. Brian’s focus is on procuring debt and equity financing for targeted investments. Brian also spends time originating and sourcing investment opportunities. Prior to Valorem, Brian spent eighteen (18) years at Silver Point Capital, ranked by Institutional Investor as the #1 large hedge fund in the world for 2014 and the #2 large hedge fund in the world for 2015. Brian held various senior positions sourcing and originating private debt equity investments (both real estate and corporate). Brian commenced his career as a sourcer and trader of distressed debt (real estate and corporate) at Third Avenue Management, LLC and its affiliated broker-dealer, MJ Whitman, Inc.

Brian holds a Juris Doctor degree from St, Johns University School of Law, a Bachelor or Arts degree from Boston College, a Diploma in credit Analysis from New York University, and a Certificate in Commercial Real Estate from Cornell University.

Brian also serves on the Advisory Boards of the Mattone Real Estate Institute at St. John’s University School of Law and the Wall Street Alumni Council of Chaminade High School

Marcum King

Managing Partner

Marcum King is a Managing Member of Allura Capital.  A seasoned investment professional, Marcum has led over 250 investments across a range of asset classes in sectors and geographies.  Marcum is one of the cofounders in Valorem Real Estate Partners, a premiere real estate investment fund with offices in Westport CT and Cincinnati OH.

In the last 22 years, Marcum has helped raise over $350 million dollars of capital for leading and emerging companies and has been involved in over $80 million dollars of M&A transactions.  Since 2018, Marcum’s firm recorded an IRR that places them in the top 15% of firms in their category.    Marcum’s experience in commercial real estate spans 30 years in finance, credit and money creation, value add projects, development/redevelopment, construction and business development.  As a Commercial Principal Broker, Marcum has led a team of real estate professionals, architects, project managers and formalized a program called “MAR” (Make a Run) that evolved nationwide scouts providing consistent deal flow.

An industry expert, Marcum has been an active board member to over 10 companies, has mentored numerous juniors and has successfully exited over 180 real estate investment projects.  Marcum and his Valorem cofounders have been propelled by an exceptional team of construction executives, project managers, superintendents, estimators, field and support staff that adheres to Valorem’s core value system of Investor Commitment, Fiscal Responsibility, Collaborative Process, Strategic Alignment and Due Diligence.

Marcum holds a BA degree from the University of Kentucky in finance.
