Daniel Steinberg is an experienced real estate executive with over 30 years’ experience in the acquisition, financing, development and management of over $3.5 billion of real estate transactions. He will be providing strategic advice to the managing member of Valorem in all transaction-related activities. He has an extensive background in real estate development, property underwriting and investment, asset management, and creating real estate products to meet the requirements of substantial private investors. His activities as an investor, both in the context of a significant opportunity fund and a major international financial institution, give him a unique perspective on investment objectives and allocation requirements of a broad range of private and public investors.
Mr. Steinberg is currently the founder and the Managing Member of Targeted Real Estate Equities LLC, a Connecticut based merchant banking firm that undertakes property investment, asset management, and investment banking activities on behalf of private clients, families, trusts, foundations, and other private investment groups.
Prior to Targeted, Mr. Steinberg was a co-founder and Managing Director of several smaller real estate private equity funds. Mr. Steinberg was successful in creating a broad mix of unique investment products at these funds and growing the business to nearly $600 million in property acquisitions.
Mr. Steinberg was Director and Head of Real Estate Advisory – Americas for UBS AG, one of the largest private wealth sponsor in the world. While at UBS, he was responsible for the development and implementation of real estate investment products for high-net-worth individuals globally, including the launch of property investment vehicles for clients to pool equity to invest in direct real estate assets, the creation of single asset acquisition opportunities, and the implementation of a diversified portfolio transaction program. He also was instrumental in working with UBS’ investment center to adopt investment in the real estate sector as a significant part of the firm’s overall portfolio allocation models.
Prior to joining UBS, he served as a Vice President of Blackstone Real Estate Advisors, one of the preeminent real estate private equity firms in the U.S. While at Blackstone, he was involved with all phases of property acquisition, financing and asset management and led the firm’s commercial development initiative. Prior to Blackstone, he served in various capacities with Ares Realty Capital, a subsidiary of Mutual of New York, and Kenneth Leventhal & Company (now Ernst & Young). He began his career in the real estate industry as a construction project sponsor for Structure Tone Inc.
Mr. Steinberg graduated from the Boston University School of Management with a B.S. degree in Business Administration. He is active in various real estate industry organizations.
